Local College Wins Regional Award The Collège Michel Bousquié in Quillan won the first prize from amongst the entrants in the Aude for a website created by 14 year old pupils under the heading “Being 14 in Europe”. Cork Still Produced in France There are about 100,000 hectares of cork oaks throughout France and this represents an important industry with, most obviously, the production of corks for wine bottles being at the forefront. The cork is first “harvested” between June and August when the trees are 12 years old as the bark (cork) is then between 3 to 5 centimetres thick.
