Chateau de Queribus

On the southern threshold of the Cathar Country, the area of Queribus allows a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees all the way down to the Mediterranean coast. Subsequently it became an outpost on the border between France and Spain until the 17th Century, at which point it lost its strategic value. Watching over the region since the 11th Century, Queribus was the last fortress to fall at the end of the Albi Crusade in 1255.
