France Did you Know? – Repeat a Prescription

xx – A doctor in France when writing a prescription for you, can indicate the number of repeat prescriptions on it. However, unlike in the UK, once a prescription has expired, you cannot simply phone and ask for a new one to be left in reception for you to collect. You have two choices:- make another visit to your Doctor and pay the €23 doctor’s fee and get the new prescription.

– you can tell the pharmacy what you want, and they may tell you it is possible for you to pay for the medicine. Sometimes a prescribed medicine can be as little as €3.20! So it can be a big saving.
