Colissimo – There are two ways of sending international registered mail:
International registered mail without advice of reception/ lettre recommandée internationale

Sending priority recommended international mail is accepted from France to any international destination.International Recommended tracking information is available 60 calendar days from the date of shipment. This service is available up to 2 kgs for Europe and rest of world.

As receipt is only a voluntary option, so it is quite possible to send a registered letter without receipt. This is more economical for the sender. Even without a receipt, registered mail must be delivered against the signature of the recipient. The only difference is that you will not get that signature on a card in your mailbox. But if needed, the post office must keep the proof of delivery for at least 1 year.

The only form you need to complete for sending registered mail without receiving signature on a card in your mailbox: is called Fiche de Dépôt d’un Recommandé International and you need to fill in the recipient’s address and also the sender’s address and hand it in with your letter.

International registered mail with advice of reception / lettre recommandée internationale + Avis de Reception

However, if you wish to send a registered letter and receive the signature on a card in your mailbox after delivery then you need tocomplete a second form which is a separate pink form which is called: Advice of Receipt – AR or in French: Avis de Réception – AR. Again the recipient’s and sender’s address are required on this form.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR REGISTERED MAIL OR ADVICE OF RECEIPT IS NOT BEING SENT TO A P.O. BOX ADDRESS!!

National registered mail – within France
The service is the same as above except that it is valid only within France and has a separate form to complete and there are separate forms for this.
